Covid-19 Support for Groups and Communities

How Skye and Lochalsh CVO can help Covid-19 response groups

SLCVO work with the Highland Third Sector Interface to support community groups, charities and volunteers providing Covid-19 response services to local communities in Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross. We can help groups with:

  • Funding applications and meeting monitoring requirements

  • Writing polices and ensuring best practice

  • Setting-up as a formal group

  • Volunteer management

  • Governance and compliance to legislation

We support the management of the Scottish Governments volunteer register in the Highlands and work with groups to ensure they have good volunteer support systems.

As the third sector support organisation for Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross we ensure local groups are represented in regional discussions about how the Highland third sector responds to Covid-19 and how groups can safely ease down support or develop longer-term services.

We monitor and collate information about support services being provided in the 29 Community Council areas across Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross. We share this information with key support organisations and the public sector, as well as use it to identify gaps in provision and services.

We work with third sector groups, faith organisations and the public sector to fill gaps in provision and ensure the most vulnerable in our communities are supported.

If you would like to chat about how we can support your group or if you have any questions about your next step forward while supporting the reduction of Covid-19 restrictions contact Jo Ford, SLCVO Chief Officer on 01478 612921 or email jo.ford@slcvo.org.uk

How SLCVO can help groups resume as Covid-19 restrictions reduce

If your group has been inactive due to Covid-19 restrictions you will be thinking about when you can start services and activities again. What these will look like and how you can carry on running your group while your management committee cannot meet or raise funds.

SLCVO can help you work through your questions and develop plans to get your organisation up and running again. We can help you look for funding to support your group and look at how you can meet your governance requirements while social distancing restrictions are still in place.

We are able to support you in talking to funders about projects or services you have had to put on hold and look at how you will meet monitoring requirements.

If you would like to see how we can help you, contact us to arrange an initial chat about your group and the current situation you find yourself in. We can offer phone, email and video call support while isolation restrictions are in place. Contact Jo Ford, SLCVO Chief Officer on 01478 612921 or email jo.ford@slcvo.org.uk
