Volunteer Policies and Procedures
Whether you have involved volunteers in your organisations for a long time, or just starting to think about it, we can offer you 1:1 support in getting your volunteer policy and procedures right for your organisation, ensuring safe and effective volunteer environments. Using examples and templates from Volunteer Scotland, we can take you through what you need, and, if you wish, help you to to gain your Volunteer Friendly Award.
Improving your volunteer management practice
We can help you improve your volunteer management practice by carrying out a Health Check that benchmarks your organisation against best practice standards. The Health Check will help you to promote and develop good relations within your organisation and lay the foundation for a number of volunteer management quality standards.
Connecting with other volunteer involving groups
We run regular events and activities where there are opportunities to meet others in similar roles, share ideas and learn volunteer management good practice. The next events are:
-
Portree Community Centre 25th July 1.00 -3.00 - Meet your local groups & volunteer
-

Celebrating volunteering and volunteer awards
Celebrating your volunteers involvement in your group is an opportunity for you to recognise the impact of your volunteers, as well as say thank you. Volunteers’ Week is a UK wide campaign that takes place from 1-7 June every year. It’s a time when volunteering involving organisations are encouraged to thank and celebrate their volunteers, past and present. SLCVO host and support activities throughout volunteers week. if you would like to be involved email thirdsectorsupport@slcvo.org.uk
The Saltire Awards are a nationally recognised award for volunteering, for young people aged 12 – 25. Young people gain certificates, signed by Scottish Government ministers, for the volunteering they have successfully achieved. SLCVO can help your groups sign-up to the awards and support your volunteers to register their hours for each award stage. Find out more here.
The Volunteer Friendly Award is a user-friendly quality standard to support, recognise and reward groups who are good at involving volunteers. It’s never been more important for groups to be able to show how good they are at involving and managing their volunteers. We believe regardless of your group or organisation size or set up you should be rewarded and recognised for the difference your volunteer programme makes. Get more information here
