Welcome to the Community Toolkit
This resource has been developed for and with the help of community groups to help improve skills and knowledge and bring benefits to local communities. There are guidelines on a range of topics, including setting up and running a community group, legal requirements and good practice, planning and fundraising for a particular project and where to obtain useful statistical data on the local area.
How to use the Community Toolkit
Each section index displays the contents of individual topic pages. Each topic page has internal links to related pages, including project case studies, and signposts to other websites, phone or email contacts. Some pages also contain downloadable sample documents.
Compile your own Reference Manual
The Print Site facility enables you to select and print topic pages of interest to your group. As topic pages are self-contained they can be kept in a binder and simply replaced as the web pages are updated with new information.

In 2007 the Community Toolkit resource was a COSLA Excellence Award winner in the Advancing Community Well-Being category (sponsored by the Food Standards Agency).
The Community Toolkit resource is maintained by Skye & Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations. Contact the site editor at toolkit@slcvo.org.uk
