Crossroads Care - Skye & Lochalsh

Crossroads Caring for Carers Skye & Lochalsh have their office base within Tigh Lisigarry.

They have been providing invaluable respite care for local families for over 21 years.

Crossroads Caring for Carers - Skye and Lochalsh exists to:

  •  relieve stress on those persons or families caring for the elderly or people with a physical, mental or sensory impairment

  •  care in appropriate circumstances for the elderly or people with a physical, mental or sensory impairment who are living alone.

“I am due to go on holiday on Friday and feel confident that Crossroads will assist my Mother should anything arise while I am away.  I will be able to contact them for further assistance.  My mother is not yet at the stage where she needs a lot of help but if her needs change then I know that I am able to count on Crossroads to fulfil any needs not met by the social care dept.”

“My friend is an elderly gentleman confined to a wheelchair.  He looks forward to the Crossroads carers coming in because Gaelic is his first language, both his main carers are Gaelic speakers.  Crossroads is a great service for someone who is housebound and gives me a break two afternoons a week”

You can help Crossroads by:-

  • becoming a member
  • making a donation
  • volunteering in the Charity Shop
  • donating quality clothes, books or bric-a-brac to the Charity shop

Crossroads Charity Shop in Bayfield Road opened in April 1995 selling nearly new clothes/second-hand books/bric-a-brac/cards/gifts and knitwear. It quickly established itself as a popular choice for locals and visitors alike, enjoying great support from the community. It is involved in raffles/auctions and jumble-sales. It is run by a manageress and assistant with the help of a team of around 12 knitters and 20 volunteers working in the shop. All proceeds are automatically handed over to the local Crossroads scheme to help finance care.

Volunteer opportunities include working in the shop (on a rota basis - Saturdays are always welcome); ironing or knitting.
