Project looking at health and social care services for local people aged 65+

Skye and Lochalsh CVO, as part of the Health and Social Care Forum, are currently working to identify gaps in service provision for people aged 65+. Following an initial consultation phase, the project continues with an Information and Activities Day at Kyleakin Hall on 24 June.

The TROTT - looking for volunteers

The TROTT is a running/walking event due to take place on the 29th of June 2013 along the Trotternish Ridge.  Volunteers (over 18's) are wanted to help out at the event.  This is registered as a Saltire Challenge so any volunteers under 25 will qualify for a Saltire Challenge Award.

West Highland College UHI Students hold Pirate Day

Students studying the full time National Certificate (NC) Administration course at West Highland College UHI – Auchtertyre held a special event for their qualification on Saturday May 11th. 

The event was to raise funds for “Lucky 2 b here”, a local charity which provides raises funds for lifesaving training and equipment in rural areas.

The Trott. Are you up for The Trott on Sat 29 June?

Pit your skills, strength and stamina against the iconic Trotternish Ridge on the spectacular Isle of Skye. You can choose either a 36 km or 21 km fell running or long distance walking challenge - or there is a short 12 km walk. So there are challenges to suit all tastes and abilities. The finish is in Flodigarry where there will be a ceilidh at Charlie’s Barn where you can burn off the last of your energy.

This project aims to assist community groups develop community assets by helping them improve their knowledge of the planning system.

All volunteer advisors are fully qualified town planners, and are members of the Royal Town Planning Institute so they come with a wealth of experience.
