The Scottish Crofting Federation have given the bill a cautious welcome, but they've also convened a working group to scrutinise it and seek amendment to some aspects. The bill includes proposals for a new, map-based croft register; changes to the Crofters Commission structure and various actions to tackle speculation on croft land. The bill will now be examined by the Scottish Parliament's Rural Affairs and Environment Committee who will take evidence from crofting stakeholders before producing a report for debate.
