Category OPEN DAY
Description

Befrienders Highland is pleased to invite you to attend their OPEN DAY being held to celebrate the official opening of their new office premises.   Join them to celebrate!

Having been fortunate in securing a 5 year funding award from  the Big Lottery, Befrienders Highland  plan to develop and expand the Distance Befriending service and have been able to move to new premises and recruit new staff.

Their new premises will be officially opened by The Rt. Hon. Charles Kennedy MP at 1030 hrs on Tuesday 27 April 2010.   Following this there will be a general Open Day with opportunity to meet the staff, directors and volunteers between 1030 and 1600 hrs.  Light refreshments will be available.   Piper Gary Stevenson of Inveran will commence proceedings.

Befrienders Highland is a voluntary organisation aiming to reduce loneliness and isolation and enable a better quality of life across the Highland Council region for people who experience mental ill health.  They offer 1-1 supported friendships with trained volunteers.   Befriending has been proven to help increase confidence, improve self esteem and provide ordinary social interaction for people who often have no other social contact outside of their mental health circle.  Supported friendships are currently offered Face to Face in Inverness, Nairn and Ardersier and through Distance Befriending (telephone, letter or email) across the wider Highlands.  Over the next 5 years they plan to double their service and pilot a number of new initiatives.

Venue: 19 Church Street, Inverness IV1 1DY (second floor above McEwan’s of Perth). Unfortunately there is no disabled access.
