The Central Registered Body in Scotland (CRBS) offer community groups free access to disclosure checks on volunteers as well as guidance, advice and support relating to working with children and vulnerable adults and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Act (Scotland).
To register to access PVG Scheme Records through CRBS your community group must:-
- be able to prove that it is a bona fide voluntary organisation – for example, provide a copy of your constitution plus details on what you do, your management committee and funding details
- identify a lead signatory (or collator) for your group who will have to undergo a visual identity check. This must be done in person at either CRBS in Stirling or at one of the many Trusted Partner agencies across Scotland. Your own local Third Sector Interface organisation may offer this service, ask CRBS when you apply
- comply with the code of Practice for Registered Persons and Other Recipient of Disclosure Information
Once enrolled with CRBS, your organisation can request PVG Scheme Records free of charge to help assess whether or not your volunteers are suitable to carry out ‘regulated work’ with children or ‘protected’ adults.
